So far, Kepa has only once to play for Spain. It was a friendly against Costa Rica last November. At the 2018 World Cup, Chelsea's rookie goalkeeper was called up for the match but could not play a minute.

De Gea was La Roja's No. 1 choice in the tournament in Russia, but the 27-year-old star was under attack and received countless criticisms. Not many fans have asked De Gea to put Kepa in the frame of the Spanish team.

However, Kepa insists that he ignores all opinions and is willing to compete with De Gea for the main catch.

"Being in the national team is a joy, everybody wants to play and I will work hard for that, we will meet the members of the coaching board for the first few days and then start working on it. There are two big matches ahead.

That's a question for the coaches. What I'm going to do is get into training. The coach will decide the best thing for the team, but in training sessions, I will try my best. All the players are trying to get on. The final decision belongs to the coach and we are always happy to accept it.

De Gea is a good goalkeeper and he deserves to stand in the wood frame. Spain has left the World Cup too early but I do not mind the comments of the fans. I will try to separate myself and focus only on expertise, "the most expensive goalkeeper shared planet.
