Ronaldo, Messi and Salah the best striker for the Champions League 2017/18

UEFA has announced the list of the best candidates for each title in the Champions League 2017/18. Each goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker position has three candidates. These candidates were selected by a jury of 32 coaches from the teams attending the 2017/18 Champions League and 55 journalists representing 55 UEFA members.

The winners will be honored at the Champions League 2018/19 draw in Monaco on August 30. The list of candidates is as follows:
- Goalkeepers: Alisson Becker (Roma, now Liverpool), Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus, now PSG), Keylor Navas (Real Madrid)
- Defender: Marcelo (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
Midfielder: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
Striker: Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, now Juventus), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

In addition, UEFA also announced the shortlist of three candidates for the title of Europa League 2017/18 best player. The three candidates are Diego Godin, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Dimitri Payet (Marseille). In the 2016/17 season, the player who won the title was Paul Pogba.

The 2017/18 season will be announced at the Europa League 2017/18 draw in Monaco on August 31.
