Lanzini breaks 15 months, absent all season 2018/19
Lanzini was injured when he focused on Argentina to prepare for the 2018 World Cup. The injury also made him miss the appointment for the first time in his career at the World Football Festival.
Lanzini will be recovering from injury for the first-team training at West Ham. However, the latest medical findings, the 25-year-old's knee ligament injury was worse than expected and he needed 15 months to recover.
The 15-month absence means that Lanzini will miss the 2018/19 season in the English Premier League. This was a shock to West Ham, as the Argentinian was the backbone of the team last season. New coach Manuel Pellegrini also highly praised Lanzini's talent and considered him an important link in the development of the Hammers.
Without Lanzini's service throughout the season, West Ham are actively looking for substitutes. Pellegrini's name is midfielder Jack Wilshere, who will be out of contract with Arsenal on 30 June.
