The emergent German strategist is one of the talented young coaches and has been asserting himself for more than two years leading Hoffenheim. Nagelsmann was appointed to lead Hoffenheim in the end of October 2017 and to help the team succeed in the Bundesliga. According to Bild, Nagelsmann received his initial approach from Real as one of the candidates for the Bernabeu hot seat. However, Hoffenheim's captain refused.

It is known that Nagelsmann has a contract with Hoffenheim until 2022, but there is a clause that he was only released contract after the end of the 2018/19 season.
