Ronaldo either pays tax evasion or goes to jail

Cristiano Ronaldo has wanted to compensate 14 million euros in tax fraud for Spanish tax authorities to avoid being jailed. However, the Spanish authorities disagreed with the money.

In June 2017, Ronaldo was accused by the Spanish tax authorities of € 14.8 million in copyright royalties from 2011 to 2014. Ronaldo was convicted and offered compensation of 14 million euros plus Apologize publicly for a prison term of less than 2 years. Under Spanish law, a person who has not had a criminal record for less than two years will not be put on jail.

However, the Spanish tax authority rejected the offer. Spanish authorities demanded that Ronaldo repay the tax evasion plus interest, penalties and other expenses. Total amount is 28 million euros. Ronaldo can pay this amount before June 15 or continue to stand after the 2018 World Cup.

If Ronaldo did not spend 28 million euros and pursued the litigation, the Portuguese superstar could face up to eight years in jail. Spanish prosecutors attempted to close Xabi Alonso's eight-year jail term with less tax evasion than Ronaldo.

Ronaldo's continuing troubles with Spanish law may explain to some extent the reaction of this superstar after the Champions League final. Shortly after the game, Ronaldo has opened his eyes on the possibility of leaving Real Madrid do not help him in this case. Ronaldo wants Real to pay compensation but the club only receives moral and spiritual support.
