The official decision will be announced by UEFA after the Executive Council meeting in late August. Most likely, the VAR will be used for the knock-out phase, namely from the Champions League quarter-finals 2018/19.

Previously there have been concerns about the use of VAR in the Champions and Europa League. But UEFA believes that by introducing the VAR at a later stage in the group stage, they can ensure that the system is monitored as closely as possible and controlled as effectively as possible.
